Garden Work October: Sowing and Harvesting
In October, there is a lot of work to do in the garden to keep the vegetation lush and tidy.

One of the main operations is to eliminate any broken branches,
cover the plants and protect them from frost with non-woven fabric and prepare the soil.
Among the various cares to be devoted to the lawn, sowing is one of the operations not to be forgotten. If you have already sown the seeds, you can switch to fertilization, using a good slow-release granular fertilizer or, alternatively, the classic organic fertilizer.
In October the first leaves fall and it is preferable to collect them for use in mulching, especially useful at the base of trees and shrubs.
GARDEN CLEANING

Pruning is used not only to give the plants a more tidy appearance but also to make them stronger during the winter period, provided that they use good pruning shears.
All plants that have already completed their life cycle must be eradicated while the bulbs can also be collected and stored in special bags.
PLANT SUPPORTS
Also, check the various supports for climbing plants and replace damaged ones where appropriate.
IRRIGATIONS
During this period, irrigation should be limited except in the case of long periods of drought. Always remember to avoid water stagnation.
In this period, besides protecting the plants from the cold, remember that not all of them can survive the winter cold, so take advantage of the opportunity to equip yourself with special greenhouses, which you will have to ventilate and treat in order to avoid the proliferation of insects and various pests.
PLANTS AND FLOWERS: WHAT TO SOW IN OCTOBER
In October, you can plant several plants as the soil still offers enough heat to support the natural rooting of the plants.
You can sow this month:
calendula, cornflower, godezia, poppy, fragrant pea, spurge, ornamental cabbage, violets.
Plants to be planted in October: you can also plant bulbs such as lilies, snowdrops, hyacinths, narcissi, and tulips. Remember that for this type of plant, the soil must be sufficiently soft. You can plant the bulbs about 10 centimeters below ground level and apply slight pressure.
This is also the right time for cuttings such as roses, bougainvillea, camellias, and hydrangeas.
PLANTS AT HOME: HOW TO CARE FOR THEM IN OCTOBER
Potted plants should usually be kept indoors but it is sufficient to provide adequate shelter, such as moving towards a wall or use the appropriate antifreeze fabrics for plants.

In October you should think about sowing the lawn to thicken the mantle or just to fill the holes. The rains of this period favour the germination of lawn seeds.
